The Zeehan gem
and mineral fair
This is
Tasmania’s main annual gem and mineral show, and this year will be held on the
two days following the Mineralogical seminar (Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th
November). It is a great place to see what new minerals are coming out, and
there is always something new there.

It is an annual
Community event that will always be on the 1st weekend after the Melbourne Cup,
and attracts about 2500 people. There are usually over 30 stalls of Gems,
Jewellery, Minerals, Crystals, Opals, Beads, Fossils and more, in the Basketball
Stadium at the Zeehan Primary School, (on Belstead St.).
Local small
miners and collectors have many crystals and minerals direct from the local
mines and prospecting sites around Zeehan, including, Crocoite, (Tasmania's
Mineral Emblem), Stichtite and Serpentine carvings, Pyromorphite, Quartz,
Tourmaline and much more!
Specimen
competitions exhibit some fabulous specimens, especially the Tasmanian
competition. On Saturday night there is a fabulous fireworks display sponsored
by local mining companies.
